Maintaining evaporator operation with a steam superheated water substation

OBJECTIVES

  • Guarantee continuous supply of superheated water for workshop evaporators as well as building requirements, despite the shutdown of on-site Fluid Water (EF) production in 2024.
  • Network pressure management via a second GMP container (pressure maintenance unit).

CLIENT REQUEST

  • Extend evaporator operation beyond 2024.
  • Install an intermediate loop to produce superheated water.
  • Implement an autonomous system meeting high specifications.
  • Conduct factory acceptance tests to ensure compliance before installation.

CHALLENGE

  • Technical:
    • Supply superheated water at 188°C and 23 bar at a flow rate of 210 m³/h, while integrating steam at 20 bar.
    • Manage condensate recovery as well as cooling.
    • Maintain stable pressure at 17 bar in the primary loop.
  • Logistics: Conduct a full-scale test in a controlled environment.
  • Reliability: Ensure redundancy for critical functions (pumps, valves, controls).

TIBBLOC SOLUTION

Modular and turnkey infrastructure:

  • Pumps: Two pumps for water circulation, with automatic switchover in case of failure (normal/backup).
  • Heating: Steam/superheated water heat exchanger to achieve required thermodynamic parameters.
  • Condensate management: Complete collection, cooling (dedicated heat exchanger), and discharge system.
  • Advanced control: Pressure maintenance and precise temperature control (188°C setpoint).

Automation and Safety:

  • Control system to manage process parameters and signal any faults.
  • Functional tests including failure simulations (power loss, sensor failure, etc.).

Flexibility and scalability: An outdoor-mounted substation, ready to use, adapted to site constraints.

PROFITS

  • Workshop production continuity
  • Redundancy of key equipment for continuous operation.
  • Automatic safety shutdown in case of critical threshold exceedance.
  • Pre-assembled and factory-tested substation, reducing installation time.
  • Tests validating proper system operation before on-site integration.
