Improving concrete setting in mobile plants
OBJECTIVES
A client’s request to save time on site by accelerating concrete setting and simplifying its application.
CUSTOMER REQUEST
A company specializing in the supply of ready-mixed concrete, as well astransport and pumping services, contacted us to optimize the efficiency of its concrete production.
Its aim was to improve the performance of its installations, whether fixed or mobile.
Although it already had expertise in mobile production equipment, plants capable of being moved directly to construction sites or installed temporarily on site. Because it was faced with operational optimization challenges.
His request concerned :
-
Improving the performance of its production units
-
Reduce production times and logistics costs
-
Optimizing conveying and pumping processes
CHALLENGE
Intervene directly at the concrete batching plant to improve the manufacturing process. The objective was to obtain a more efficient ready-mix concrete, allowing for faster concrete setting and a reduction in on-site preparation times.
TIBBLOC SOLUTIONS
To meet the challenges of tight deadlines and site performance, our innovative solution involves the installation of a mobile boiler coupled with a plate heat exchanger.
This system regulates the temperature of the fluids used in the concrete, accelerating setting even in cold weather. On-site times are reduced. Concrete quality and durability are preserved.
- Installation of a boiler room inside the plant to heat water for injection.
- Temperature control : Measurement of water delivery time per concrete batch and conversion into m³/h.
- Delta T calculation: Difference between inlet water temperature (+2°C in winter) and setpoint temperature (+65°C).
- Optimized preparation times: Rapid production of homogeneous, high-quality concrete, speeding up the process while respecting concrete properties.
This solution reduced on-site preparation times and guaranteed better-quality concrete.
PROFITS
In winter, without hot water, the concrete recipe costs on average €10/m³ more.
For a concrete plant producing 40 m³/h, each hour of delay incurs an estimated additional cost of €400. Over a week, this amounts to up to €20,000, excluding Tibbloc rental.
